NPSA SHOW IN LAS VEGAS

In October HAMMAR Lift participated in the Annual NPSA Trade Show in Las Vegas. This year we teamed up with our client, Park Johnstead from Containerlifters, Portland, OR.

Together with HAMMAR Lift's Vice President, Alexander Corméry, and Production Manager, Arturo Hernandez, we demonstrated his HAMMAR 195 C model, and its capacity to lift two 20' containers at the same time.

It was four rewarding days which gave us the opportunity to meet both existing and potential clients. HAMMAR Lift's presence showed everyone we are the Number One Sideloader manufacturer on the North American market. We would like to thank all visitors and organizers for a great event.

We welcome Alex in HAMMAR Lift and wish Lars success in his future business.

THE WORLDS LOWEST SIDELOADER?

Hammar has, in cooperation with Trailerpartner A/S delivered what we believe to be the lowest built Sideloader in the world to the Faroe Islands. The ground clearance of this 160 S chassis is minimal. The reason for this drastic design is that the fish industry is situated on one side of a 1.5 km long road tunnel, only allowing a max vehicle height of 3.5 meter, and the port in Tvøroyri is situated on the other side. When the food regulation prescribes that the fish products must be frozen and packed in reefer containers at the production site, there is no other alternative.

HAMMAR MEGA TRANSFER STABILIZER

Hammar introduces the new MEGA stabilizer leg for the 150 Series cranes. Designed for easy and safe transfer of containers to and from companion chassis and rail wagons, even under the most difficult situations.

The patented stabilizer is extended onto the other side of the companion vehicle, alternatively supports across both chassis rails and a flat bed trailer. The new MEGA stabilizer is very safe and flexible. It is adjustable to lower height companion trailers and it is guaranteed for 36 tonnes safe workload (SWL), although it is 260 Kg lighter in weight (more payload!) than the standard stabilizer.

HAMMAR 151 Rig Lifter

Hammar has developed a 42 Tonne Rig Lifter Sideloader specifically designed to lift and handle equipment for land based oil and gas drilling rigs, up to18 metres long and up to 5.6 metres wide. It can lift masts and other parts that are longer than 18 metres and transfer them to other trailers.

This unique HAMMAR removes the need for mobile cranes and rig trucks and can be legally towed on the road while carrying a load itself. The HAMMAR 151HC Rig Lifter is a safe and very cost effective solution, with a capacity equivalent to a 150 Tonne meter crane.

HAMMAR Lift delivers first units to US Marine Corps

HAMMAR Lift has been rewarded a governmental contract to deliver the HAMMAR sideloader to the US Marine Corp. The first two units have already been delivered and US Marines have been trained in safe operation of the HAMMAR 151 HC.

The units have the most flexible HAMMAR 151 cranes with main support legs as well as extra support legs on non lifting side for maximum security when containers are being stacked two high. The trailer is a telescopic C-chassis for maximum flexibility, giving the HAMMAR capacity to carry all container sizes from 20’ up to 45’.

HAMMAR Antarctica

HAMMAR Lift has recently delivered a HAMMAR 195 HB for attachment on to a 20’ skid for transport and handling of 20’ ISO containers in the Antarctic. The skid is pulled by a snow cat and two containers can be transported at the same time, one on the HAMMAR and one on an accompanying sledge. This is an unusual unit, but a perfect way to handle containers in one of the most remote areas on our planet.

The support legs are white to avoid the sun heating them up. This prevents the snow and ice on the ground to melt from heat avoiding supports sinking in to the ground

New HAMMAR for SKANSKA, Cortez, Colorado

HAMMAR Lift has delivered a HAMMAR 151 HC to Skanska USA, one of the nation’s major construction companies. The machine is to be deployed throughout the Skanska Rocky Mountain region from its base at SKANSKA’s Cortez, Colo., headquarters.

Skanska’s heavy civil projects in the Rocky Mountain region include unique assignments, such as construction of a geotechnical cap for the Hazardous Waste Landfill at Rocky Mountain Arsenal near Denver, Colo. The company builds infrastructure projects such as roads and dams. Skanska contracts with mining, power and industrial customers to build highways, dams, airport runways and other major infrastructure projects.

With many different projects on the go at any time, Skanska is involved in moving workshops, generator sets and equipment in containers around the region. Now, what took hours to execute, can be completed in minutes using the HAMMAR sideloader. There’s an additional benefit that comes from using the Hammar trailer-mounted handler: The boxes can be set on the ground for much easier and safer access by Skanska’s staff.

Mid American Trucking Show

Thousands of people watched the HAMMAR on Mid American Truck Show March 25 to 27 in Louisville, Kentucky. The most experienced HAMMAR operator in the US, Mats Landen (Mats on MATS!) lifted an ISO flat rack with Mike Ryans Freightliner race truck on top pretty much through the opening hours, all three show days. The booth was manned with HAMMAR Lift staff, but also had Ben Hammar, the man who invented the HAMMAR sideloader 36 years ago, present during the show.

Mike Ryan was also present, meeting with the crowd and formalizing HAMMAR Lift’s sponsorship for his Pike Peaks challenge. Mike who is best known for his stunt work with big rigs on the white screen, has won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb not less than eleven times. Look at more info about Mike on www.fastrucks.com.

HAMMAR Lift also hosted “Trucker Buddy” in their booth. Trucker Buddy is a non profit pen friend organisation, dedicated to helping educate and mentor schoolchildren. Look at more information about them on www.truckerbuddy.org.

Robot welding speeds up production

Like many others, Hammar was also hit by the global financial recession in 2008/2009. Now, when the wind has turned, we are determined to be ready for the increased production without letting our customers suffer of long, delivery times.

Hammar has invested in a robot welding system from Motoman of Japan, which has just now been started up in production after the initial test/programming runs. The robot is a Motoman EA 1900N, with two cells with individual manipulators dimensioned for a 1000 Kg load and able to rotate our crane arms during welding. The two cells allow maximum usage of the robot as one cell can be set up by the operator, while the robot is welding in the other. The robot is transporting itself on a 13 meter long rail between work stations.

The Motoman EA 1900N system will deliver a more controlled welding process and a more even welding result, compared to even the best license welders.

Hammar is working hard to bring down the lead times in production in order to always deliver on time to customers and this robot system is a part of that strive.

Latino Truck Show

For the third consecutive year, HAMMAR Lift showed their HAMMAR sidelifter at the NPSA annual Conference and Trade Show. This time the HAMMAR was our 151 HC model capable of lifting and transporting all container sizes between 20’ and 48’. The HAMMAR was shown in the outdoors trade show area, so visitors could see the machine in full operation. The HAMMAR was delivered directly after the show to it’s new owner SECURE STORE in Ontario, Canada.

NPSA Trade Show, Las Vegas October 25-27

HAMMAR Lift participated at the Latino Truck Show in Pomona October 17-18. The HAMMAR in the Booth was a HAMMAR 195 C and it was shown lifting a Freightliner race truck owned and driven by Mike Ryan, the famous Californian race truck and stunt driver. Mike is well known for his fantasic runs with the Freighliner truck at Pikes Peak in Colorado, but also for participating in several films as stunt driver including Terminator II.

Lot’s of people visited the HAMMAR booth to look both at the HAMMAR and at Mike’s truck. Many were fascinated to see the HAMMAR and learn about the high lifting capacity and all possible combinations that the trailer is capable of, 20’, 2x 20’, 40’ and even 45’ containers.

New HAMMAR for SECURE STORE ON, Canada

A new HAMMAR 151 HC has just been delivered to SECURE STORE in Innisfil, Ontario. This will be a great reference for us in the industry, says Lars Frantzich, VP of HAMMAR Lift, Inc.

Elgin Bolton, at SECURE STORE, is a Board member in NPSA, where we can find several of our existing customers and where we see a large potential to find new HAMMAR users.

The HAMMAR will be commissioned in Canada by our specialists with in the coming weeks and we will be back with a further report, once the unit is in operation for SECURE STORE.

Automatic laser cutter increases quality

Hammar Maskin’s new top of the line automatic laser cutter system has just come on stream. It is a 4 kW Mazak Space Gear 510 Mk II, connected to a steel sheet tower magazine, with a loader, allowing the laser cutter to operate un-manned during night time. In fact, even the secluded production hall for it, is new.

With the possibility to tilt the laser head in a 53° angle, we now don’t have to post chamfer weld surfaces in a second work stage, which saves us a lot of precious production time.

This USD 1.7 million investment is a way for Hammar to remain in control of quality and still lower production costs and time. It is now being used for cutting all steel plates and profiles for our crane arms. The laser beam is cutting with an extremely high precision, which improves both the quality and conformity of the cranes quite dramatically.

Hammar Malaysia delivers the 250th HAMMAR

In July 2008 Hammar Malaysia marked another milestone in Hammar’s worldwide sales, as they delivered the 250th HAMMAR in Malaysia to customer Dayang Mewah in Port Klang. The unit was one of five in total delivered at a delivery ceremony to mark the occasion. Hammar Maskin (M) Sdn Bhd, another subsidiary fully owned by Hammar Sweden, was incorporated in 2003 and is headed by Executive Director Chris Joon since the very start. Hammar Malaysia is by far the leading supplier of sideloaders in Malaysia and is running a state-of-the art service programme, which is very popular among local HAMMAR operators.

Superior Trailer, new production partner for HAMMAR Lift

After about two and a half year it was time to move the US production to a bigger work shop and establish a partnership with a trailer producer. Our new partner, Superior trailer have been in business at this location for more than 25 years and have long time experience of using Swedish high tensile steel for low tare weight on their trailers. Same steel as is used for the HAMMAR sidloaders. “This will be a great partner once we are through these tough financial times and business picks up again, says Lars Frantzich, VP of HAMMAR Lift, Inc.
